Invitation to write a chapter for the book “New Media and Development"

We (Kiran Prasad) are currently editing a book “New Media and Development” which will
be a fully revised version of our earlier book “Information and
Communication Technologies: Recasting Development” (2004, BRPC, New Delhi).

We are looking for few additional chapters to strengthen our project.
We invite abstracts of papers from empirical, case-based or
country/regional perspectives on the applications of new media
technologies in development.  Interested scholars may kindly send the

An internet based course for credit or non-credit is being offered by
the University of Missouri St. Louis this Spring.  The 16 week course is
on the topic of Development Communication.  The course will focus on the
failure of modernization theory and practice to deliver a substantial
change in developing nations.  It will be from a non-western perspective
and it will examine how media function and for whom in poor nations.

Call for concept notes - Deadline January 8, 2010
Carleton University's Centre for Media and Transitional Societies (CMTS), in
collaboration with Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), is pleased
to launch a call for concept notes, in French or English, outlining proposed research
examining the impact of convergence between traditional radio and new information and
communications technologies (ICTs) in sub-Saharan Africa.
