Two new publications on the EPS and the media in the Baltic-Nordic region of Europe

Two Lithuanian social sciences journals recently published special issues in English dedicated to the European Public Sphere and the media in Baltic-Nordic Region of Europe.

The special issue of “Sociologija. Mintis ir veiksmas” ("Sociology. Thought and Action") contains a number of original papers presented at the international conference “European Public Spheres, Civil Society and Civic Mass Media“, organized by Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas in April 2007. The articles published represent a wide range of different approaches and topics around the EPS issue, including political communication, media organization and journalism practices, European reporting and coverage. A special Introduction to the issue is written by Prof. Paulo Mancini (download .pdf: http://www.ku.lt/sociologija/files/2008-2.p.5-7.pdf). The issue of “Information Sciencies” includes selected papers presented at the Baltic-Nordic workshop “Setting compara¬tive Baltic-Nordic media research agenda”, organized by Vytautas Magnus University, Department of Public Communications in collaboration with the Baltic Association for Media Research (BAMR) in Kaunas, April 2008. The articles included into the special issue address a wide range of different approaches and topics around the media systems in the Nordic and Baltic countries, including media usage and content, news market and media policies, technological diffusion and changes in political communication, journalism train¬ing and media education.
