Title of the presentation:
Action research – how to study participatory interaction and change it at the same time

Short abstract of the presentation:
Researchers are often facing challenge where the issue they study is in great need of reform. This workshop will give a short introduction in action research from two different projects – one related to participatory communication in the museum work and another to the online democracy and youth work. After looking at these examples, students will be divided into groups with assignments to design research projects combining interventions. The focus of the design will look at potential complications, ethical issues of action research and potential theoretical and empirical gains such research projects can give. Feedback and discussion will help to learn from the group’s collective experience.
