Maren Hartmann
Title of the presentation:
Mobile media in (semi-)mobile places
Short abstract of the presentation:
The presentation will deal with the question of mobile media use in urban public places, particularly in terms of public viewing events. The concrete project that will be referred to is a small research project conducted in Berlin during the European Football Championship in the summer of 2008. Different public viewing areas, both large and small, will be observed, people will the interviewed and other material will be reviewed in relation to the question of media use in public places. Other questions and topics relate to the question of events (media and sports events), the topic of media sports and the larger question of (mobile) media use in public spaces. All of these areas will first be briefly introduced theoretically plus then related to material from the research project. The doubling of media and sports event is seen to be a rather particular in the media reception/apropriation field. Plus the material will be 'hot off the press'.
